HVAC

Considering how much time we spend indoors, it’s critical to consider the air we breathe. HVAC/Central air is the common form of heating and cooling a home used in new construction today. Not only do air filters get clogged with fine dirt, dead skin, pet dander, microorganisms from cat litter… HVAC systems can be circulating other particulates that can irritate the lungs, such as mold spores, fungi and even rodent feces.

By removing aspects of the home that off-gas and/or collect dust and allergens, a healthier interior environment can be achieved.

CRAWL SPACES

Many HVAC systems run ductwork through basements. Fine particulates in crawl spaces such as dust, mold spores, rodent feces and other things that can carry dangerous allergens can flow from room to room. You can be as diligent as you want about cleaning, but a central air system that is not regularly maintained can quickly circulate these things throughout the home.

Building Clean requires design and building decisions that minimize pollution which negatively effect the indoor health of your home environment.

CARPET

According to the American Lung Association, carpeting can impact health in a number of ways—trapping pollutants like dust mites, pet dander, allergens, particle pollution, lead, mold, pesticides, dirt and dust. These things settle into carpets—easily disrupted by daily walking, vacuuming and during renovation.

If you’re tearing out carpet, get a good respirator and clear the house of family and pets. Run a good ventilating fan with a high grade filter to circulate air through the process… or just hire us to build something clean, green and custom for you.

EarthCraft Construction partnered with The Healthy House Institute (HHI) in 2014 to build the educational organization’s home headquarters in Boise, Idaho.
